I really like the snow you got there. Is it games workshop's snow or have you made a mix of your own?

It's the GW snow yeah. It's a bit messy to work with (definitely recommend some old newspaper as cover) but looks so amazing

I've been absolutely loving Death Guard lately. I managed to score the Death Guard half of the Dark Imperium box for cheap, and finally got around to painting the Lord of Contagion. I'm so happy with how this model turned out - might be my best one to date.

As a side note, I finally got around to buying some good brushes. Specifically some W&N Series 7 brushes. I can't overstate how much of a difference that made in some of the details. The spring in those brushes compared to the cheap, synthetic ones I've been using is just a different world. I'm terrified of using them as they're expensive as hell and I'm not known to be gentle with my brushes, but man. I mainly used them on the highlights of the green parts of the armor.

You should check out the Ignitors from Monument Hobbies. They're on par with the W&N Miniature series for a third of the price. Plus they sell some of the best paint on the market IMO.

Looks well. I've been (slowly) working on my own DG, but while I'm happy enough with the overall colour scheme I'm going with, I can't get a good colour for the tentacles / intestines / whatever the hell those are on the models. What are you doing for yours? The overall colour of my armour isn't too far off yours.

Thanks!

I'm basically using the method Duncan shows off in Warhammer TV's tutorial for the Lord of Contagion - with some slight modifications. I find this tutorial, and the one he did for Mortarion to be pretty excellent. He uses slightly different methods for parts I'd probably do the same way across the two models, but both are definitely worth watching. Duncan is such a damn treasure.

Anyway! For the tentacles, exposed guts and the fleshy cracks in the armor, I use the following method:
Basecoat Screamer Pink
Shade with Druchii Violet
Layer with mix (I eyeball it, but something like 60/40) of Screamer Pink and Emperor's Children (you could probably substitute Kislev Flesh instead, for a more gradual transition to the last step - I only do this because I don't have an intermediate pink...)
Highlight the most exposed parts Kislev Flesh.

I also did the few boils there are with a basecoat of Averland Sunset, shaded them quite heavily with Reikland Fleshshade, and gave them a dot of Ushabti Bone. It's simple and effective!

(I am a slave to Citadel paints. It's what I get for living a block away from GW...)

I'll have to check my paints and see what I have available.

What do you think of these? I came across them a while ago, and am thinking of getting a set for a bit of variety for my DG. I prefer to have full helmets rather than exposed faces, but these look pretty good, and there are one or two of the normal DG heads I don't like (the sorcerer from the Dark Imperium set and Lord Felthius spring to mind). Seen any other good headswaps around?

Ohh, those are sweet! I mean, those are just perfect style-wise. Just try to find out if they're the right size for Plague Marines, as they may end up looking goofy if they're the older style.

I don't really mind the standard Plague Marine heads - a few of them are a bit dull (see below!), but they get across the fact that Plague Marines wear older styles of armor.

I managed to get a better shot of a couple of my Plague Marines, too. You can only see half of one, and the other is unfinished, but it'll give you an idea of what the tentacles and fleshy bits look like without the highlights in.

... I was going to include a better shot of the one on the left, as he's actually finished, but it turned out a bit blurry. Still, I love that one - he's got probably my favorite helmet. ;D

I finally reached a look I'm happy with on my Adepta Sororitas. Pictured here is a Celestian Superior.

I usually don't care too much about necrons (no idea why, I just dislike their sculpts)

But holy hell good job!

I finished a few more of them walls

Thank you very much ^^ I love the new necron sculpts.

Your terrain pieces look awesome. I really like the moss growing on them.

It's been a while since I posted something! I've been working on my Orlock gang - taking it real slow, and giving this everything I have.

I'd estimate they took about 15 hours each. ;D

Have been on a bit of a break from here but here are my C'tan shards for my necron army. Hope you like them!

Thank you ^^ glad you like them. Now this pandemic needs to end so I can use them on the tabletop.

Haven't done a ton of painting of late, but I was out Friday with some friends for an MTG prerelease, and I'd been feeling a bit beat down. So I decided some retail therapy was in order, and made my first impulse buy into 40k. Just the Recruit Starter Set - a few space marines and Necrons, but I've been enjoying clipping the sprues and putting together my little spacemanz.

Earlier this year, I also grabbed one of Privateer Press's Mystery boxes, and got a bunch of Skorne. The Gargantuan Desert Hydra is gonna wait until I have an airbrush to do it justice, but using the rest of the box I was actually able to put together a tentative Brawlmachine list (a fan-made format developed during the pandemic to facilitate small pickup matches). So, needless to say, I've got the hobby itch at the moment. I will update if/when I have pics.

Also, because I like seeing everyone's painted minis, and this thread deserves more love. >.>

Numerion, you always bring the good stuff to this thread! The texture on those leg-wraps is awesome!

Meanwhile, in clonkland, here are those Space marines I mentioned:

I originally knew I wanted a funky purple/teal contrast. A friend suggested orange and purple, and I thought, "Well, that would be a crazy highlighting process." And I really like how they turned out!

That's probably the beauty of Space Marines. They're really simple models, and they can take a gritty, nuanced colour scheme or something wild and comic-book-y and they'll look good regardless. Plus, you can bang 'em out in no time. I might grab another box of 'em some time when I'm feeling down on my painting skills and need a quick pick-me-up.

But that'll have to wait! I've got plenty on my painting table already. I've been slowly building my necrons, but might hold off on painting them right away. I'd need another box of Necrons of some flavour to get them into a viable Kill Team list. In the meantime, I realized that my Star Wars Legion models are about the right scale for some 40k stuff, so I figured I could proxy them for a Kill Team of Mechanicus, and try some build ideas out. Plus, it gives me a reason to paint up some of those legion models that have been sitting primed on my shelf for ages. Knocked two models out today, and I figure I can swing that momentum to get that last unit of Rebel infantry table-ready. And if I get those painted.... well, I mean that AT-RT would be the last man standing of that starter box. It would be a shame not to paint it!

We'll see how well I do on that front, bit it'd be nice to clear out some of that old stuff.

But also I'll have to disappoint you, the leg wraps are just contrast paints xD No creativity there.
