I had a Mastermind-ish character written up for a previous Leverage game that never really took off. But it looks like the Mastermind in this one will be a GM character / NPC?

Juggtacular

Your secondary could be Mastermind.  The Brad Pitt to his George Clooney.

Here's that diver I promised

Derek "Lead Foot" Foley

Current Occupation: Car mechanic at a speed shop. Moonlights with the shop's racing team as a mechanic.

Appearance/Style Description: Derek is a jeans and t-shirt kind of guy. Likes car shirts from part companies. Keeps his hair trimmed very short. Prefers white racing suits and helmets. Says they help the sponsor see their logo on him better. Really, style isn't something he concerns himself with. Except shorts. He loathes showing off his leg, unless he can get an advantage somehow.

Personality: Derek is a reasonable fellow. Slow to anger, and quick with a joke. People generally like him. His personality isn't notable, except for a few quirks. He has a penchant to over-promise. He'll promise the moon, and try to deliver. But when you promise that big, you'll fall short far too often. He's extremely fond of cars and all things racing, and remembers his racing days fondly. In any given room, he is absolutely convinced he is the best driver. And then there's his leg. He's kind of a hypocrite about it. He demands to be treated the same as anyone else, but if he can ever see an advantage to be gained by screaming about it, oh, you bet he'll scream. He's always been the type who would do anything for an advantage, and that hasn't changed.

History: Derek was born with a need for speed. His parents were the usual, upstanding people, who owned a small auto shop in a rural North Carolina town, where everybody knew everybody, and nobody cared if a thirteen year old kid occasionally drove grandpa home from the bar. At least Grandpa wasn't driving drunk.

The began to care when Derek started driving. From his earliest moments behind the wheel, Derek found he had a natural talent for driving fast, throwing himself into corners, and eluding the cops. Granted, you could only elude the town's one officer for so long before he found out where you parked Grandpa's 'Cuda. I mean, we're not talking about Barney Fife here. But the town was reasonable, letting Derek off with a few warnings, the last of which promised severe repercussions if he didn't find a constructive outlet.

To fill his need for speed, Derek took up dirt track racing in the next town over. He knew he'd found his calling the first time he felt that engine roar behind him. He raced everything he could find: Sprint Cars, dirt bikes, karts, anything. By the time Derek was 17, he'd cemented himself as a bit of a local celebrity, and had a spot on a NASCAR Asphalt Modifieds feeder circuit.

Derek made the most of the opportunity, and at 21, was being talked about for the Nationwide series. That's when disaster struck. Derek wasn't even driving. He was riding in the passenger seat when a friend's car was t-boned by a drunk driver, ruining Derek's right leg, and his chances of ever making it as a professional racing driver.

His life probably would have been over if the owner of his racing team hadn't taken pity on the young man, giving him a spot working at their shop in Raleigh, NC. There, Derek works on race cars, and builds customer hot rods to make ends meet. That's been his life for the past three years as he built his strength up and retuned his reflexes. It's okay work, but Derek wants something more. More money to pour into project cars, to be specific. He has that need for speed again. And now, he really can bolt his foot to the gas.

Current Situation: Working at a minor league racing shop in Raleigh, NC. He's a mechanic for the racing team and the speed shop.

Primary Job: Driver

Secondary Job: Mechanical Specialist

Gear:
- Portable mechanic's tools: a set of most mechanic's tools that aren't too manufacturer specific, and can safely be hauled around in his truck.
- "The Fuzzbuster": a stereo replacement unit Derek's been tinkering with. Combines a radar detector and police scanner in a unit that looks like a normal replacement stereo
- the "Lead Foot": his knee-down prosthetic leg. It's quite nice, and he's modified it specifically for driving. He's still a good driver without it, but with it, he's almost as good as he was before the accident.
- Wheelchair: a run of the mill wheelchair. Useful when a real handicap needs to be demonstrated.
- Ford F150: his hauling truck. Has a trailer hitch, and most of Derek's tools in the back.
- Project cars: a few cars sitting in a garage back in Raleigh, unfinished. But for the right job, he might be persuaded to finish one.

You just know he's going to land it.

Special Skill: The Zone. Ever since he was a kid, Derek could lock himself in and make a car do something it shouldn't be able to do. Would be a damned useful skill for a racer, if the accompanying adrenaline rush and appreciation didn't snap him right out of it.

Strengths:
- Car Whisperer: he knows cars. He knows how to make them the best cars they can be. If you can afford it.
- Need for Speed: high speeds and tight corners don't frighten Derek. He lives for the chase, and can keep his cool with one hand on the wheel anytime.
- Connected: He knows guys. Tools and car part guys, but they know other guys too. He can get mechanical items and electronics, either at a better price or a better quality than usual.
- Handicapped: Derek isn't above using his handicap to his advantage.

Weaknesses:
- Prosthetic Leg: outside of the car, Derek doesn't have all the mobility he'd like. He can't run as fast or move as quick as most people.
- Overconfident: Occasionally will promise more than he can deliver.
- Spends like a sailor in port: between speeding tickets and car parts, Derek never has any money. What he has is spent almost instantly.

Thank you for the interest guys! I will be reading through and performing approvals along with Rel today.

Aiden, please retool your second Weakness. I don't really see being a womanizer as a character weakness, unless you intend to play it extremely over the top. As in, he very likely could jeopardize a heist because he starts trying to assault the female cashier and blows everyone's cover.

Pilk, I am going to hold off on reviewing your sheet for now until we get at least two more female characters in the game.

Zephy, go ahead and edit your special power to change the length of time from 5 minutes to maybe 10 seconds. 5 minutes is basically the duration of a quick heist, which would make it way too powerful.

Also, retool your Weakness. I can't really see the water thing coming in to play as a disadvantage in the game.

Not quite, but he does have some Wild card tendencies, added Honor Among of Thieves (most of the time)

To clarify a little more.

Going to try to get a character sheet done and up tonight. Muse and sickness permitting.

Added another picture, adjusted Override Skill, and added 2 weaknesses.

Oh my...

I'm usually slow as fuck in posting rate terms, but I've found that I can keep up one game with a set rate of a shorter time (like the 1 per three days), and I don't have any other game with that kind of limit at the moment...

I'm thinking a female safe cracker with acrobatic thief as secondary. If that sounds okay, I'll go ahead and write her up.

Thinking faces.

I was a bit too slow on this one and I don't think I can pull off a Con-Artist. I'll graciously step down.  ;D

Hmm...so is Con-Artist now open?

There have been no sheets submitted for con artist.

Everything open right now is Driver, Safe Hacker, and Con-Artist as primaries, but we're in need of the female characters. (Which I know you make amazing females, Andy - if that is what your muse was speaking. :D )

AndyZ

Okay ^_^ Let me put in some thought for a female Con Artist.

I'm definitely still interested in this.  I've got a couple of different ideas roaming around in my head in terms of characters, but I don't want to step on anyone's toes when it comes to submitting a sheet for the same role that someone else is going for.  I see some people have interest mentioned for the various roles that are open, and don't want to annoy someone by putting in a competing sheet.  If someone drops, or loses interest, or if the game even expands, I'd definitely like to get in on this.

I don't think you need to worry about that Gnothi, in the original thread I wanted the enforcer roll but ended up as the weapon specialist.

Well, if someone is looking at Con Artist, please let me know so I don't waste time trying to get it done.  You'll likely beat me to it right now.

Holy shit, no kidding here, I am taking a swing at a Safe Cracker/Enforcer and named her Claudia Reyes before I even saw Aiden's character was known under Reyes before! :V

Wanna collaborate on crazy siblings if I get this done and approved Aiden?  ;D
