Just looking to see if there is any interest in a low-magic D&D game. I was planning to have spell users limited to Level 4 and the world would be human-centric namely you must be human and can be multiclassed. The campaign will be set in the Forgeotten Realms five years after the great War of High Magic where Mystra and Shar destroyed each other with other magic gods shattering much of the weave. The new goddess of magic Mystral appointed by AO himself in Neutral and banned from politics her only duty to keep what is left of the Weave in place. She also is the sole holder of all magic domains including the Shadow Weave. A few gods such as Death and the like still have elements of certain magic like Necromancy but are not magical dieties. She is to grant the use of the Weave and Azuth now a Lesser God only due to his knowledge and following is limited to teaching magic as he was before.

Politics the Red Wizards of Thay are being invaded by Mulhorand and other nearby powers after the mages were crippled in the catastrophe even the Thayan slaves rose up under the command of the charismatic Hargoth Thule a general and warmaster. The City of Shade and their mages faired not much better. In the North the Orcs move on Silverymoon with the magics no longer powerful enough to be a major threat. And the Elven strongholds are in grave danger from the Drow and their allies moving on them slowly.

In this world Gond surprisingly gained much power his technology and the new dislike of magic in many areas has elevated his worship, and Gondian war engineers are being tapped for weapons of war now magic is no longer as viable an option.

Only Psionics still works at full power making this the big winner Psion the god of psionics popped in the world and is rising to be a major player and sports the first Psionic academy in Waterdeep.

Interested if so post here I will set-up the game if I get four players.

This will not be sex-based but is planned around a long-term goal in mind and sex if it takes place will be normal part of life- yest it will happen.  ;)

Elves and the others are around yet.

And that is  1st and 2nd level spells are the maximum normally allowed there is one exception. You can be a higher level wizard just can't access magic over Level 2 the Weave right now is far too damaged.

- Clerics of Mythal the Goddess of All Magic and the Weave her clerics can be up to Level 4 spells.

Also some powerful wizards like Sazz Tam of Thay have artifacts that still retain their power that is why he alone is fairly secure in Thay right now. But most items of magic are fairly weak the rest just stopped working as a rule if its an Artifact it will work if not and its powerful it stopped working. One exception are scrolls scribed BEFORE the war for some reason they still work but will do so once the magic then goes awa forever. Clearly wizards and clerics covet any spell scroll with lost magic in them.

Just want to add levels in a magical class over level 4 still add the effects of LEVEL for spell power level, duration and the like. And any spell slots added will just get added to spell levels you CAN use so there is a benefit. This doesn't apply to specialist wizards bonus spells you are still limited to ones for the SPELL LEVEL you can actually use.

Interesting... What level game would this be? I'd be interested in playing something along the lines of a changeling rogue/cabinet trickster (self-trained to be the super-changeling, as opposed to being an agent of the cabinet).

Core and Forgotten Realms character classes and races only, starting character level 3, maximum hit points for level 1 and then roll (reroll 1's) OR take the average but must choose ans stick to the option for the life of the character, stats point buy with 32 points OR 4d6 IN ORDER FOR EACH STAT and you may roll three times for one stat and keep the highest roll (your choice).

All regional rules apply for feats and equipment.

Psionics according to the 3.5 rules are allowed, they don't use the weave they have no limits on level.

Basically modest power level and normal races for the Realms.

Hrm... I'll have to think on this one...

By the by, are we using a system for sex or not?

RubySlippers

No sex will happen but this is under normal levels like if you have a romance or decide to visit a fest hall.

Oh and NO evil alignments you may be neutral or good.

RubySlippers

You have to choose the three rolls after you roll all your stats.

Hrm... Is the focus going to be on combat, roleplay, or a mix thereof?

Mixed- expect combat, role-playing, romance and whatever but combat is part of the game.

Human Swashbuckler for me, then, probably. Passable at all of the above.  ;)

All right.  So after a reroll of INT, my stats are:
STR 13
DEX 14
CON 15
INT 15
WIS 14
CHA 14

I'm thinking of a psion right now, but I'm not 100% on that.

No way roll each stat on www.invisiblecastle.com and no rolls until I get a game listing set-up. All rolls will be under your character name and each link posted for the roll after the roll when the time comes.

Game thread has been requested with Elvi so when its up go there. It should be called D&D 3.5: Shattered Magic.

RubySlippers

Oh ok I didn't notice that feature I still PREFER invisible castle in the future. You may do your re-rolls in one stat then post them. I suggest wait to do the character I have a prefered web site for that.

One point a mage can still use slots over the Level 2 spell limit for augmenting with metamagic feats and there is an option to get spells over Level 2. If you take EXTRA SLOT as a feat and can use spells over Level 2 you can BUY one slot of a Level 3 or higher level you can use. You will also get the normal bonuses for stats and specialization. You just have to work harder to get them but they are there, even then spells over Level 5 in no cases are normally available however. Older mages are having a hard time of it but the new up and coming ones are learning to adapt so have an edge in the long run.

Game is in Midtones, go and post a character and you may ask questions there.
