Any civilians allowed as part of the crew?

MP said this a little earlier:

The Ship belongs to the Navy, the Navy belongs to the Country. The Country supplies the crew from its military personnel. Technically, there are no civilians onboard.

His use of the word “technically” makes me think that he’ll allow the rank of reserve officers, or something similar. In real-world militaries, it’s a pretty common arrangement for specialised professionals (like scientists). Of course, this is only speculation. MP himself will obviously have the final word.

This sounds about right to me as well but yes, MP will confirm.

I don't think he's had many profiles sent in so far.

Hi all!  I'm interested in the following positions in order of decreasing interest (mainly since I'm sure who's called for those spots): Tactical + Weapons Officer, Chief Engineer, and XO.

The link on the first post leads to a roster of accepted characters (near the bottom). For your browsing convenience, though:

• Chief Engineer is still open. Huzzah!
• XO currently has an NPC assigned to the role, but I’m happy to relinquish that spot (assuming MP has no plans for the NPC).
• Tactical / weapons officer isn’t an official role, I think. If you were thinking ship-based, the Nautilus only has a small armament (anti-shuttle guns protecting docking bays, and 6 torpedo launchers), so it might not be a major role.  If you’re talking squad based (i.e. marine), I imagine the second-in-command is responsible for special weapons and tactical advising.

Edit: Now that I check, the position of "weapons officer" appears on some rosters but not others. Consult your local MagicalPen for details.

I fear I'm going to have to drop out. I'm hitting some serious writer's block trying to establish a character. The last couple games I applied for either officially quit or silently died, and I guess I'm just character desced out for this type of game. D:

Ontan, aim for chief engineer, I guess I won't be applying since the character just isn't forming for me.

I meant to pop in here yesterday, but having worked a 12.5 hr shift, i was pooped. Basically went home, went to bed, woke up this morning and came back to work...slightly less than 12 hrs after leaving.

The Scientists will essentially be as close to being a Civilian as you can get, they're just on the government payroll and on government funded ship etc.

I'd suggest some more Marines - they'll probably be having most of the fun at various points ^-^
