I love you Grimm boys.

Gladius the Roman word for sword, so one who uses a sword became a gladiator. So why is there no Gladiating, Gladiation, or Gladiatoring?

The ones that always get me are pronounciation.

First one that comes to mind is slaughter and laughter. Why aren't they both pronounced either s-laff-ter or lort-er

And why are Pittsburgh and Edenburgh pronounced differently?

'gh' as in 'tough'
'o' as in 'women'
'ti' as in 'action'
