The World of Man, bathed in sunshine, verdance, light... merely lies behind a veil that shields humanity from the horrors of the Underworld, of the realms that lie beyond. Omnipotent beings of power and destruction have long coveted the jewel that is the human world.. and have finally mobilized the means to invade it. Slowly.. but surely..


Fate has forseen these events, and has offered a single means of hope for humanity- Twenty individuals- Entities- from all walks of life, scattered throughout the Realm of Men have been bestowed with the powers and means to stop the unsealing of their veil or protection. Only together, they will form the final entity: The World.

However, these individuals also possess human thoughts and ambitions: Greed, lust, revenge, malevolence.. Fate has only forseen that her gifts were bestowed upon these people, not what they will do with them.
The invading beings are also fully aware of the existence of Entities, and their ability to stop them. They will do anything in their power to destroy any opposition: Demons have been promised their freedom from the Underworld should they aid in capturing Entities, occult human sects that worship these forces have been formed, and even innocent humans are possessed to obey the will of the invaders.

Either way, the advent of The World faces incredible odds...

~Entities~
The twenty humans who hold the fate of humanity within their hands. With each alignment, each Entity has a special ability- and ensuing affliction- upon them in exchange. For example, an Entity aligned with -The Hermit- may be a powerful empath, but suffers from a severe case of social anxiety. Or, perhaps another Entitiy may be powerfully clairvoyant, but is otherwise blind/deaf/mute. Be creative! These are normal human beings in extraordinary circumstances; Certainly, there is no 'normal' way to save the world!

~Assimilation~
Entities also have the ability to temporarily copy or absorb the talents of other Entities, but will also suffer from their Afflictions as well- Assimilation and Affliction is effective for exactly three days (72 hours) after the exchange. The exchange of bodily fluids (with the exception of tears, sweat, or saliva) must be completed in order for the Ritual to be complete- that is, sexual intercourse is the best method to ensure assimilation. Blood will make the exchange permanent.
Sadly, this also means that Entities raped or abused by other Enitities may find that their abilities have been forfeited in the exchange! In this way, more unscrupulous Entities can ensure their survival should the invaders succeed, or perhaps even gain the power of The World by seeing that only they unite the powers of the other alignments within themselves.

1)The "seducer" (or rapist, in some cases) takes the ability/affliction in the exchange, so its a double-edged sword, but only pure sexual exchange counts for the 72 hours. Blood however, is still the same but the exchange is permanent for the seducer.
For example: If an Entity rapes a virgin Entity and they get blood into the exchange, they may get a little more than they bargained for, especially if the victim's affliction is particularly serious!

2) With consented intercourse however, both Entities will take and give their ability/affliction mutually.

3) Characters will always have their original abilities and afflictions, regardless if they have exchanged or not.

As aforementioned, the affliction of an Entity must be somehow directly related to their alignment or the inverse of their specific talent: An entity aligned with -The Lovers- could likely be an uncontrollable Nymphomaniac, as -The Fool- may be brilliant to a point bordering on insanity.

He escaped from poverty by joining forces with his mentor, an English military captain who he'd helped by distracting a few locals that were hunting him down.  After stealing a fortune, he needed to get out of town.  He left the country in his private jet that he'd acquired by pretending to be Adrian Lester, a famous actor in the UK.  Arriving in America, he set out to manipulate more people and find a perfect score.
Ability 
Dexter can find a way in and out of any situation using supernatural social tact, as well as gather a team of thieves with many resources to pull off a heist.

Alice had always been described as a precocious and observant child, and rightfully so~ she has been powerfully clairvoyant since birth. Even so, her uncanny ability to notice what others cannot has been the interest of many doctors and scientific researchers for years.. as she has also been blind for the entirety of her life, the "price" to be paid for her extrasensory ability.
The only daughter of the illustrious VanHauzer bloodline, Alice was frequently paraded about by her proud family in recognition of her incredible talent as a young child. She was otherwise patronized, if not outright ignored because of her disability, the "blemish" upon the proud lineage of her family. As such, she has grown to become a very quiet and timid young woman. Alice feels that she has anything resembling a relationship only with Kaiser, her guide dog.

Affliction
The aspect of the lover is a double edge sword.  As the lovers come in perfect harmony.  The throes of lust that sweep them into euphoria.   For Ashiqa that state of euphoria is craved and lusted after.  Giving her the affliction of being a nymphomaniac.

Knew when a subway car was going to be derailed, or when a bus would break schedule. He knew all the outcomes of his choices, even if that outcome was something his choices could not control. Like a bus being late because of an accident up the road. An accident he would be in if he took that cab, but avoid completely, in that one.
He can't turn it off. He is always seeing the results of his actions, and barely has time to make them while he processes it all.

A plain black tie is tucked into the vest, cut in such a way that anyone looking at it knew it must have been expensive, it's subtle grace and elegance a palpable thing. A pair of sleek Italian spectacles obscure his pale blue eyes with a delicate tint to the prescription lenses.

A lanky gentleman, his emaciated figure gives him the illusion of being even taller, his salon styled black hair discretely adding another inch to his already towering frame. Some would claim he smokes Shermans, but the truth of the matter is he simply lights them for something to clasp in his long fingers.

Well known in financial circles, he works with a leading financial services provider as an impartial analyst. Sporting a number of names that are less than flattering, he is known as a man of impeccable intuition. Incorruptible and viciously astute, he is much hated by any corporation who falls under his review, particularly those with "loose" accounting practices.

Abilities
Reciprocity. Those who aid him in his duties often benefit from vagaries of Fate. Those who would harm him however, tend to get as good as they give, as if some outside force is keeping score of the game and is looking forward to a tie.

Judgement. Fate's final decision. Sometimes, the deeds of a man catch up to him. Mitchell is Fate's most active auditor, the justice he administers often fatal.

Affliction
Impartiality. He must perform his duty and abide by the outcome. Mitchell is spokesman for Fate's moral compass. At times a letter arrives for him, untraceable and unreadable to most. A time, a place, and a person are etched upon it.

He is obligated to administer the judgement, meeting with the subject one last time to go over the numbers. With his laptop ledgers, he comes in an auditor, checking the work of his employer for any minor errors or uncatalogued exemptions. Fate is not known to make many errors, and so most often, a terrible justice is met out to the subject.

An orphan, she was given up at birth.  Her mother dying while delivering her, and an unknown father, she was thrown from foster home to foster home.  She first gained her powers when she was Eight years old and a girl who had befriended her had fallen through the ice of a frozen over lake.  When she was pulled out dead, Catherine had inadvertently used her powers to bring her back.  When she got back home she found out that her foster mother had died in a car accident driving from the grocery store.   She was moved from foster home to foster home from then on.  She stays to herself, living alone, and working from home as an online graphics designer.  She makes cover art for Bands, books, athletic gear, and posters.

Retro-cognition: The ability to see or perceive the past in the form of a vision or premonition
Rebirth: The ability to bring someone back to life, with the cost of taking the life of someone equal in Alignment, and someone dear to Catherine.

Affliction
Insomnia, Her dreams are plagued with death and memories that are not hers, so she refuses/unable to fall asleep.  By bringing someone back to life, someone close to her is taken.  The responsibility of giving the sacrifice in order to bring someone back is her responsibility, so without someone close to sacrifice, she cannot use this power.  So she is a rather introverted isolated person, who can be seen as rude to push people away.

Faith is a secondary high school teacher, her sensitive and naïve character made her very charismatic and sincere type of person. She chose to become a teacher to help people especially because she was only able to experience their pain.
Depending on the person near her dept of suffering or pain, it can totally break her down leaving her depressed and sad for days, but she learned how to channel the emotion and use it to help the people. What better place to help than where the pain is the most drastic than all over the world and can cause world. The school was packed with emotions and most of them could change the future drastically.

Faith sweet personality believes that everybody has well in their soul and only need a little pushed to bring it out. Feeling others pain constantly had made her afraid of her feelings and she carefully avoids her own pain, by choosing to stay a virgin and don’t experience emotional attachments.
That choice wasn’t easy especially when her innocent and quiet personality attracts the most dangerous types.

Oooh, I love this idea! I'm very new so I hope I'm applying correctly, but here's my character concept.
Entity of The Tower/Elizabeth "Gomorrah" Montgomery
(Is known almost exclusively as Gomorrah or "Rah")
Physical
Age: 23
Hair: Blond/brown, sometimes worn in a short mohawk
Eyes: Green
Height: 6'0
Frame: Thin/Athletic

Social
Occupation: Jack of all trades musician, icon of local punk community, street kid, vigilante/good samaritan, or as she sums it up: "I unstick people."
Sexuality: Opportunist and will play any role needed.

That Other Thing
Ability: Gomorrah has quite the ability to find the bare bones of a person, often seeing them as a being of varying functions and purposes that must constantly change and transform to continue to be "good". Her innate ability to see people often gives her a disturbing and sometimes destructive level of insight, allowing her to connect places, objects, and loved ones to people she is allowed physical contact with. (Not sure if this will work, and would yet again maybe be too much work for a DM but I thought she could have an element of "magical bloodhound" where she can recognize that for instance a doll at a pawn shop was important to _____ person in ___ way. It has to be a fairly strong emotional bond, though.)
Affliction: Her naturally chaotic nature that focuses entirely on emotion has a habit of interfering with electronic and mechanical systems, especially tools when she is in their presence. Lights tend to flicker, clocks reset or jam, cars will malfunction, etc. at a much greater frequency. (If it's alright with the storyteller she can have these happen as much as she likes, or I could roll regularly which might also be fun. I think it would be really cool to maybe have them happen when things that are not in keeping with tower philosophies such as clinging onto old ideas, unwillingness to sacrifice, etc.).

His weapon of choice is a sword, however, given the obsoleteness of the weapon, he instead carries a .32 magnum pistol with him, in case of trouble.

Affliction: For someone so strong, Richard is incredibly weak-willed when dealing with members of the opposite sex.

Affliction: Dexter is out of touch with his emotions. He once held a steady relationship with his wife, but the job took him to new places and eventually she filed for divorce. Now, every time he sees a woman that reminds him of her at all, he shuts down entirely. In London he was duplicating a piece of art and encountered a woman such as this, but she was an enemy who wanted him dead. Skimming by, a friend managed to pull him away from the gunfire.

Dexter had been living in the UK for the entirety of his adult life, originating in the trumps of Haiti. He escaped from poverty by joining forces with his mentor, an English military captain who he'd helped by distracting a few locals that were hunting him down.  After stealing a fortune, he needed to get out of town.  He left the country in his private jet that he'd acquired by pretending to be Adrian Lester, a famous actor in the UK.  Arriving in America, he set out to manipulate more people and find a perfect score.

Ability:  Dexter can find a way in and out of any situation using supernatural social tact, as well as gather a team of thieves with many resources to pull off a heist.

Affliction: Dexter is out of touch with his emotions. He once held a steady relationship with his wife, but the job took him to new places and eventually she filed for divorce. Now, every time he sees a woman that reminds him of her at all, he shuts down entirely. In London he was duplicating a piece of art and encountered a woman such as this, but she was an enemy who wanted him dead. Skimming by, a friend managed to pull him away from the gunfire.


This is all absolutely magnificent, and you certainly are welcome, newcomer or otherwise! However, may I ask you something? Your affliction is a bit confusing.. by shutting down entirely, does he just get emotional? Afflictions are something that is absolutely crippling to the Entity- something like the inability to tell reality from illusion, or like my own, who is blind because of hers. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you!

Dexter's affliction is that he literally completely shuts down at the site of his ex-lover, he is unable to move or think speak intentionally while she, or someone with uncanny resemblance, is in the same room with him.

I rarely see a character picture with someone that wasn't famous, or at least very handsome/beautiful. In any roleplay I ever do. Even the furries I used to play with have hyper sexualized fantasy pictures of their characters. And my artist friends make characters that are themselves without flaws. I figured this character would be just some random guy. So I google 'some random guy'. Bam.

Ugh, thank you so much! I'm so pleased you enjoyed it~Absolutely, I may roll for it at appropriate times but will do all the heavy lifting. It's mostly to keep myself entertained. And yeah, in a way she has even less than the High Priestess so I will look about for a new ability, it was the part I was least happy with on the application.

If this is okay:
Abilities: As the Tower's entity Gomorrah can restructure her body into another living being she has come into contact with for a maximum of 24 hours. Her body literally rearranges, making things incredibly painful for her, and she cannot transform for another 24 hours after she has chosen to re-form to her usual body. She can also do minor rearrangements, such as vocal chords, to produce a specific voice of a person she has touched but the waiting period still remains the same and the appearance of the transformation is deeply disturbing to the average viewer.
