Keiko is curious, loyal, and a bit of a thrill seeker. She is a bit of an optimist, and has a stubborn streak – for long term goals. She is rather flexible when it comes to short-term goals, and prefers to avoid trouble than seek it. She has a talent for languages. She has her own code of honor, sort of –she doesn’t betray anyone first, as long it is not a mark. She is not that experienced or specialized, but received a well-rounded training in infiltration and other techniques. While not as racist as the average japanese, Keiko does not really like or trust metahumans, a result of her upbringing in a rather conservative japanese megacorp. She does not trust Magic easily, preferring technology. Unknown to her there were some hidden mood programs installed in her headware during her last surgery. The programs are subtle, working through her sim module by manipulating her emotions, and serve to make her more loyal to the Yakuza, easier to handle, and increase her libido some.

Motivation for running the shadows:

Cut off from Japan, her SIN erased and her contacts gone, and in debt to the Yakuza, Keiko has no choice but to make a living in the shadows, using her talents and the skills she learned in her time as an operative of Renraku. She plans some day to get to the bottom of what happened to her section.

Description:

Keiko has shoulder-length black hair, which she dyes frequently, a slim body, and has had extensive cosmetic surgery/biosculpting in addition to her bioware and cyberware implants. Keiko's commlink shows her profile (unless on a run), her fake SIN name (Kimiko Nakamura) and while working in the Jade Orchid, also serves to collect tips.

History:

Keiko was born to a couple of Renraku mid-level execs. After her mother died during the Ring of Fire in 2061, her father, unwilling to deal with his daughter, had her raised by Renraku’s childcare specialists. Keiko was a bit of an unruly child, and her teachers soon decided that she would not fit a standard career as an office lady job. Given her natural talent for languages, her ambidexterity, and her biocompability, she was groomed to become a special operative for the more shadowy aspects of Renraku. Her training focused on hands-on and social skills, with the goal of making her an infiltrator/bodyguard. Vehicle skills and other, more exotic skills would be provided with skillsofts. Her code name was “Keiko”. Her first missions were promising, and she was slated to receive additional training when a coworker of hers messed up and was discovered during a delicate mission. The resulting scandal – fueled by a rival of Keiko’s superiour – led to Renraku dissolving the entire section Keiko was working for, going as far as having said superiour killed “in an accident”, and erasing the SINs of its operatives, to achieve plausible deniability. Keiko, who was at the time on a mission in Manila, posing as a tourist to make contact with a possible defector from Evo, was left stranded – and possibly marked for termination. So she decided to disappear into the local underground, dropping anything that could be traced to her, including her company-provided skillsofts and programs. Unfortunately Keiko ran into trouble during this. She managed to escape Manila with the help of the Yakuza that smuggled her to Kyoto but Keiko ended up in debt to the Yakuza, forced to work for them as an exotic dancer and call girl to pay them back - with mounting interest. After getting settled in Kyoto she is now looking for some freelance work as a runner so she can pay the Yakuza back faster.

Ryo (Yakuza Enforcer) (1/3) Ryois one of Keiko's handlers, making sure she keeps her payments up and shows up for work when told to. He's a native of Kyoto, and in his youth was a gang member until he was recruited by the Ykuza. After some time as a foot soldier he rose in ranks and transferred to the "entertainment" division. He's 1.75 meters tall and lean, and shaves his head. Ryo loves his position - all the perks of working with working girls, and not much of the risk other yakuza members run. He likes ordering people around, and demonstrating his power. Crissy Hu (Call girl) (1/2) Crissy Hu is Keiko's roomie. She's an eurasian woman of 22 years, and works for the Yakuza as a call girl. The girl has made some contacts in Kyoto - she's originally from California - and has a number of regular clients. She's pretty business-oriented and working on "graduating" to mistress of one of her rich regulars - she doesn't care much who in particular. Keiko doesn't know much about Crissy, knowing her since a few weeks so far, but the woman seems friendly, and helped her get settled in. Crissy prefers to wear black clothes and leather.
