Questions That Need Answering

Welcome to Elliquiy!

Click here and open this link in a new window or tab <- this will take you to starting your Introduction thread here while still being able to reading the rest of this.

This thread of yours will help us get to know you a bit, and also helps members determine who is 'their type' - we like to make people's sexuality clear here, in order to avoid awkward situations down the road.

Our Questions

  1. Gender - Your real gender. (you should set this in your profile after getting accepted). This determines whether you get accepted as a Lord or Lady, which determines a number of minor things on this site. If you are hermaphroditic or transgendered, please list the gender you identify with.
  2. A confirmation that you are over eighteen (18) years of age. You don't need to give your birth date, but some people like to make anecdotes about their age - remembering presidencies or other events.
  3. An acknowledgment that you have read the rules and understand them. If you do not understand one or more rules, please bring them up in the introduction and ask.
  4. Your time zone, or general availability. Country, state, province, or territory are also nice answers that are still usually somewhat vague about where you actually are. You can lie about where you are from, of course, but lying to Vekseid and the staff is a bit silly.
  5. How you found us? A link from another site, another member, a search engine phrase...
  6. Are you willing to play characters of the opposite gender (gender-bending or cross-gender roleplaying)?
  7. Are you willing to play with the above (cross-gender roleplayers)?
  8. You sexual preferences (as in, lesbian, bisexual, straight...) This of course is another important question - we don't want to put you in a situation that you aren't comfortable with.
  9. Your sexual nature. Dominant, submissive, switch, neither, be a bit explanatory. Elliquiy has a large BSDM community but there are those that eschew such things.

Writing quality is noted, but not judged. Etiquette IS judged. While we adore good writers, we are looking for mature writers. Someone who considers themselves 'elite' may very well not pass muster here. At the same time, someone who can barely put two sentences together in a post may be quite welcome.

We have members who produce pages for every post, and members who frequently make only a few sentences in a post. Both extremes are welcome here. If you are curious about what we are looking for, here are the basics of our guidelines:

  • Treat other members with respect. This is covered, in detail, in the rules. This includes the mentors and other staff of the site.
  • Be patient. It takes time to get in. There is plenty to participate in on the public forums while you wait, and we encourage this. Make friends!

There is a minimum of 24 hours between your first post in the introduction forum, and approval. This is to help you meet more people that may interest you.

There are things that may make you uncomfortable here. Content is clearly sectioned, but if a particular subject does not interest you, please stay out of its section. Thank you.

Avoid placing graphic material, links, e-mails or other contact information in your introductions until you are accepted. Also, if you wish to discuss matters in semi-private with a Siren, go to the Quarantine forums and post a topic there (do to abuse we had to disable the reading and writing of Private Messages for guests).

Please title and make your answers clear, so that we can find them - some people color code their answers to the questions, quote the message, or respond by number. Doing one of these things is helpful and appreciated. Multi-phrase answers are also appreciated - your are describing a facet of yourself, here, and if you can't bring yourself to express who you are in better than a score or so of words, how shallow does that make you?

Note: Unapproved members do not get to edit or delete posts.

You will notice, in the rules, that Elliquiy does not have a post length minimum, unlike some other role-playing sites. That isn't going to change - some members here enjoy vivid detail, others prefer pithiness. We extol the virtues of both, here. However, you should be able to be descriptive where the situation warrants.

Things that will delay approval.

  1. Sharing an IP address with someone else. We frown on duplicate accounts so require some convincing that you are at least two people.
  2. Misbehaving or otherwise creeping members out. This can delay approval indefinitely if bad enough.
  3. Vacations, illness or absences by the administrative staff. Sorry.
  4. If we find out you are under 18, you aren't getting in until you are.
  5. We no longer approve members after the first post. We expect you to be able to hold a conversation.
  6. Impatience may convince us that you need to learn some.
  7. You did not answer each of the questions.
  8. You did not convince us that you are mentally mature.

Thank you for your stay and I hope you will have an absolutely wonderful time here!
