Or two sexy mechanics could pool their money and co-own a shop.  :D

Needs a cool name, though.  Something double entende-ish.  :D

Some questions about cyberware:

Are Wired Reflexes 3 still insanely dangerous in 2070, or has the technology become safer?

How exactly do the ranks of cybereyes/ears and the Essence cost of eyeware work? There's a mention of Capacity, but I couldn't find how that number is determined.
Quote from: WikiEyeware subsystems either take up Capacity in a cybereye or Essence in a natural eye (not both).

Otherwise the wiki is super helpful and answers almost all of my questions. Thank you so much for putting it together.

I think Lunar didnt' set that capacity or rather forgot that bit.  There will be little kinks to work out like that in the info. If you can bring it to their attention they can get it fixed. I didn't even notice that myself!  and I did the wiki coding! of course I was more absorbed in the coding rather than the exact info that I was coding.. >.<

If we get a driver we could have like..a little crew and do adventures with that story idea.  Kind of Fast and the Furious just without the whole undercover cop thing.  Our intrepid girls navigating the seedy underworld of high risk street racing.

Ciosa, I'm making my Elf weapons specialist fairly old and with a good number of contacts.  I was wondering if you'd be interested in having a working relationship with my character.  She has some fairly specialized equipment that might need a medical tune up now and again, and though completely into weapons, she's also rather spiritual in nature.  The two of them might enjoy talking over the old days over soykafe or playing chess, lol.

It's not a dual meaning, but 'Gearhead Girls' has a nice ring to it.

Koru, certainly!  The Doc doesn't have much use for weapons, but he does have B/r Cybertech, so he can look at malfunctioning cyber no problem.  And while he doesn't believe in weapons, he never minds someone with guns hanging out in the clinic, keeping the local hoppers civil.  Cuts down on theft from junkies.

Not sure on the safety of Wired Reflexes 3 in 2070 just yet. We'll get back to you on that.

As far as the Cybereyes/ears with regards to Essence and Capacity... if you buy Cybereyes Rating 1, it costs 0.2 essence. This means that you will get 0.2 essence worth of "free" cybereye enhancements. If you buy Rating 4, it costs 0.5 Essence, so you get 0.5 essence worth of "free" cybereye enhancements.

Same goes for ears. There is no actual capacity rating on cyber equipment for this game.

Does that make sense?

As for the name of an a mechanic shop jointly owned by two female mechanics, with a third female techie...

How about "The G-Spot?" "G" for girl or.. garage.  ;D

Awesome! I'm just working on the history now, so maybe after I get it finished I could send you a PM and we could talk about how they met? Would that be okay?

Yep, that makes sense. Thanks!

I'm working on my character's personality so I can hopefully sync up my background with some of the other characters. Build a little history.

With Dr. Pence being an older cat who's lived in Seattle all his life, I imagine there's not many folks around these parts he don't know.

My guy, Devil, has only been in Seattle for a few years, working as an independent "Bount" (Bounty Hunter) and has recently started dabbling in running the shadows. I'm sure he and "Doc" would have bumped into each other a few times, yes?

Michael:

Sure!  Doc's been in Seattle for his entire life, and running his clinic for 21 years.  He's definitely not a runner, by any stretch, but anyone who gets beat up regularly or shot at or chases people into the z-Zone might stumble across his clinic.

As an OOC note, I'm really hoping Doc's clinic can be something of a social hub.  He's a very good doctor, highly ethical, and will never refuse a patient.  Refusing patients is actually why he left DocWagon.  That said - if your character is a sociopath, or a psycho thrill killer, Doc's going to tret your wounds, take your money, and very politely ask you to leave, making it clear you're welcome back the next time you're injured.  If your character has a conscience, feels any kind of remorse, or is basically a good person stuck in a crap situation - he's pretty much sure that's just the state of life in 2070.  He'll be happy to be a friend, a conscience, a shoulder.  He doesn't offer advice unless he really thinks someone needs it, he tries very hard not to judge, and he never turns anyone away.  I would really love to develop backstory of some kind with anyone who's interested, so feel free to send me PMs.  That said he's not a shadowrunner - has no intention of being a shadowrunner, so my participation inthe game sort of lives or dies by others taking an interest and hanging around, wanting to RP getting patched up.  :D

Just a question… If Pence is such a staple in the city, and our characters have most likely run into him when they've been injured in the past, do we have to use contacts points in order to know him?

Hehe, I don't think so!  I'm a PC!

Be Michael and Lunar's call.  I don't have a real rep - that's an effect of street cred, I believe.  And Seattle's a huge city, and there's body shops and what not all over the place.  I'm by no means a staple or runner lore, beknown to everyone, though it's my eventual OOC goal.  ;)

Kuroneko

I didn't think so either, but I just wanted to be sure ;).

Working on a few character ideas, the skills section are we limited to the skills you listed? Or can we add some as long as we spend the points correctly? Things like performance, crafts and the like?

Quote from: Michael Corvus on January 01, 2013, 09:12:24 PM
We are restricted to what's on the wiki. That being said, if you want to say that your character can sing or dance or something like that, that should be fine, it will just be your regular, run of the mill singing and dancing and won't infer any strengths, just character.

Correct me if I'm out of place here, Lunar.

The skills we have listed on the Wiki are all skills that would be useful to Shadowrunners in particular.  There will undoubtedly be skills that we just spaced on adding, so let us know what you have in mind and we can add them.  Forgery is a skill that we can add to the wiki, but singing, dancing, or anything like that wouldn't necessarily fall under skills that we need to add.

That said, you can certainly take "Performance" as a skill if you would like.  The main thing we wanted to avoid as far as players not using things that aren't on the Wiki is gear from other books.  If it isn't gear, you can always ask... we may say no, but asking isn't a crime.  Curvy, the only thing about your concept is that we haven't figured out a way to figure out how much nuyen characters can make with "day jobs" and how they may interfere with shadowrunning.  Feel free to use that concept, but we would prefer that she was a local sensation rather than someone famous across the nations.

DO you allow Surge Victims? (figured I should ask now)

No, sorry.

Otherwise the wiki is super helpful and answers almost all of my questions. Thank you so much for putting it together.

Thank you for the compliment!  :-)

Wired reflexes dangerous?  I'm not sure what you mean.  There was an alternate and very new technology that was similar to Wired Reflexes called Move-by-Wire that was very dangerous and unstable.  Is that what you meant?

Don't forget that though the essence cost is "free" up to the original essence capacity of the cybereyes/ears, you still have to pay the nuyen for the enhancements.

Nope, he's a PC so knowing him is free.  Knowing an NPC like Desperado would require contacts.  Otherwise you have to make contacts in game (GMs may award contacts after sufficient RP has proved that the contact knows and trusts your character).

Yes that's the one, move-by-wire. I plum mixed them up. But since move-by-wire isn't on the wiki, I suppose there's no sense worrying about whether it's still dangerous!

Actual character sheet pending, but here is an outline:

Charlotte Ingólfsdóttir, Lottie to her friends, Blacksand to her teammates, was a sweet girl with simple beginnings in the village of Vík í Mýrda, Iceland. After seeing her childhood home despoiled by dirty industry, her town privatized, her only future as an asset of the Shiawase energy empire, a tech-savvy young Lottie stole a tidy sum of Shiawase money and fled the country in a freight container bound for Russia. An education under hackers, scammers, and blackmailers gave Lottie's talents a keen focus and a means for making money.

When she had saved enough, Lottie relocated to Seattle- where nuyen talked and a woman could carve a niche playing one corp against the next. But all is not forgotten, and Shiawase still haunts her, as does the image of her namesake- a black sand beach, the pristine beach of Vík í Mýrda, which she tries to recreate with the elusive perfect simsense experience. In constant pursuit of the hottest technology to complete her black sand masterpiece, pursued in turn by Shiawase hitmen and Russian turncoats for her white collar crime, Lottie is running in the shadows until the sands run out.
